My heart's the long stairs

Peter pan collar blouse: UO
Vintage skirt: Search and Destroy
Cardigan and Tights: H&M
Shoes: Seychelles, thrifted
Purse: Goodwill

This peter pan collar blouse is my favorite right now, definitely a must have for spring.

I found the new Lula issue today... soo stoked to check it out. I tried tracking it down in the rain yesterday at a Borders, but they didn't even get it in yet! Luckily this cute little bookstore in Brooklyn had it. I flipped through the pages and it's already a wealth of inspiration, love it.

Today is the last day of free shipping at the shop!

In-between Coats

For some reason I always have trouble finding an in-between seasons jacket. I just end up wearing my winter coat through spring until summer hits, and bring it back out in the fall... it's really frustrating actually. I'm not sure what it is. I just never find anything I like, and spring is so fleeting that it ends up becoming summer without even needing that medium in-between seasons type coat. Humm...

I'm still wearing this white coat I bought at Urban Outfitters in the winter, even though it's been reaching the high 50's at times here in New York.. craziness, I know. I just always skip the coat section for some reason when I'm shopping this time of year, but now I'm on the lookout for ones like these:

Military Style Coat from Topshop

Lightweight Contrast Coat from Topshop

Interior Decorated Coat from Modcloth

Rouge Apple Pea Coat from Ruche

Abigail Tulip Ruffle Coat from Ruche

I'm sort of an extremist when it comes to coat colors and styles. I mainly go for black or white, or intense fun colors like red or even yellow...mainly black and white though. or dark shades of grey. I'm not really into patterned coats like plaid, unless it's amazing. I prefer simple styles.

Concert Fashion

Last night I saw Seabear at the Mercury Lounge, who were the utmost amazing. They're Icelandic, and the lead singer is too cute for real life.

I'm always torn on what to wear to concerts though. I'm obsessed with heels again, but of course it's not really practical to be standing on my feet for a few hours in non-sensible shoes.

so... I just ended up wearing some black leggings and my Velvet Underground shirt with vintage boots which is my usual go-to concert outfit.

What do you wear to a concert? For me it's the above or tights and a dress... never heels though, for the most part! I might be able to get away with wedges next time.

Hellgate Bridge

Dress: Vintage
Cardigan and bag: F21
Tights and belt: UO
Hat: H&M
Boots: Seychelles, thrifted
Bracelets: Lucky

I love living right near the Hellgate Bridge in Queens.. it's such a historic landmark. The reason they call it hellgate is because the treacherous East River currents used to sink ships years ago, freaky! They blew up most of the rocks underneath it now, but it's still pretty unsafe. I just love the view of Manhattan though, soo pretty.

It's been so nice out lately that I had to bring out the floral prints and sheer tights! I probably could've done without the tights because it was that warm out. I used to hate wearing navy and even brown, but it's a huge part of my wardrobe lately.

Tokyo Luxe

I can only imagine what it's like to go vintage shopping in other parts of the world. Of course it's kind of crazy to think this since New York has an abundance of cute vintage boutiques just about everywhere, and they're all amazing! I'm just always wondering what a vintage store in Paris or another major city would be like. For some reason I envision them to be super fancy and almost intimidating, but in a good each dress costing $300 or more, but free champagne and pastries to entice you. Of course New York has vintage boutiques like this as well; I just never stay inside for too long! Hmm, one day. I love to travel.

If I could go thrifting anywhere right now, it would be Tokyo ~ no question about it. I love everything about Japanese culture. I found some pictures to the home of the Dolly-Kei fashion scene I mentioned in an earlier post..

These photos are from inside the vintage store Grimoire. It looks magical in there!

Photos from mbfashion

I just stumbled across the Leifsdottir Spring collection which I absolutely love; especially the tights and different types of patterns. The aesthetic of this collection seems very old-world inspired and vintage, but with a modern twist which I'm all about..sooo good. I want a pair of those high-waisted shorts and fancy rompers.

Their lookbook is quite dreamlike ~ you should see it! There are unexpected color combinations, abstract prints and more. It's also very wearable and (somewhat, but not really!) affordable..well affordable in comparison to Chanel or other high fashion labels.

I love seeing the mix of prints on the runways lately... just genius.

Dress: vintage
Tights and sunglasses: UO
Flats: Dolce Vita

These past few days have been so warm and spring-like which is a nice change from all the snow that's been falling only about a week ago. It's nice to finally wear flower dresses and lighter clothes...hopefully it will last!

I just got back from visiting a friend who lives upstate just over an hour out of new york city, and she took this photo. Her house has all of these fun wall colors which make it extra spring like...loveee it.

Nico in Wonderland

Photos by Michelle Caves of Dirty Loves Clean
Dress: Vintage
Shoes: Dolce Vita
Tights: H&M
Necklace and bow headband: from a friend
Wonderland Couture inspiration

I know I keep talking about Alice, but the story was such a huge part of my childhood and a constant inspiration! This is probably one of my favorite vintage dresses I found. It has a Betsey Johnson look to it with the cute little blue bows and velvet lovely. My friend has a forest theme in her room, so we figured the trees and bunnies were appropriate for a wonderland photo shoot.

The dress is most likely going in my store which I'll be updating soon!

Wonderland Couture

Photo from denverpost
Sue Wong just came out with a line inspired by Alice in Wonderland. These looks represent the more romantic and Victorian-era side of it!

Let's not forget jewelry. Stella McCartney and Swarovski designed some pieces, but I'm really loving these Wonderland jewels by Tom Binns...

Wonderland rose garden inspiration

Tea party... I kind of need to have this necklace.

This antique chain bracelet is lovely. There are multiple charms on it like the Mad Hatter's Hat, teapots, the Cheshire Cat, cards and more! I'm debating whether this one or the tea cup necklace is my favorite, but right now I'm leaning towards this one. I love the antique look of it. I wish I could justify spending the amount they are worth!

Go ask Alice when she's ten feet tall

I am pretty much obsessed with all things Alice. When I was younger, I used to collect Alice in Wonderland themed items like t-shirts from Hot Topic and white rabbit stuffed animals. Now that I'm older, I still have a slight Alice obsession (I was actually in the process of converting my apartment into an Alice in Wonderland tea house meets Japanese toy store, however that's a different blog post in itself), but it's matured a great deal...

The Painted Lily coasters on etsy, White Rabbit wall art, Tarina Tarantino bracelet, Urban Decay Alice book of shadows

Is anyone else extra excited to see the new film? I won't even read reviews on it yet because my hopes are too high.

I think I'm in Love...

I never thought I would say this, (considering when this style was reintroduced in earlier months, I thought it was entirely reminiscent of those ugly crocs that little kids and some older people seem to wear)!... but, after seeing the Chanel editorial, I really think I need to have a pair of clogs.

I think what made me fall in love with them was when I saw the models in Alexa Chung for Madewell wear them with high fashion socks. Jeffrey Campbell made a pair very similar to Chanel which I just need to have for spring. If only I can find them! They seem to be sold out everywhere on the internet.
