Zac Posen for Target

When high a fashion collection comes to Target, I always set the date in my head and run out that morning in excitement only to find myself slightly disappointed. Well, mainly disappointed that most of the good pieces are either sold out already. or they are not the masterpiece images I had in my head via an early lookbook. The Jean Paul Gaultier collection was a complete let down.. not one piece stuck out for me which is rare. It seems that other customers would agree, since there are still racks full of his pieces at every Target I've come across.

That's not always the case with certain designers, though. I loved my Rodarte for Target fairy dress that recently came out. Most of the other items were just okay though. sadly. being that I love Rodarte.

That being said, I actually liked a few of the Zac Posen items I came across today. The prices were a bit on the high side, though. I fell in love with the brocade floral print skirt, which is the one item I ended up buying. It looks like a watercolor painting landed perfectly onto a skirt.. beautiful.

The material is a lot thicker and fancier than it seems, and the colors are incredibly vibrant.

I wanted to love the pink polka dot dress, but I don't know... the back zipper was fitted awkwardly, and it just didn't look good on me. same goes for the chambray dress.

I was sort of disappointed that my Target didn't have the red ruffle dress or raincoat. but not surprised.

I love how the ruffles come off to make it a fancy cocktail dress and of course the fact that it's red. At $80 though, let's face it. I could most likely find a vintage 80s party dress for way less. I would still like to try it on though. and the yellow rain coat... I am obsessed with the thought of owning a yellow raincoat. I just haven't found one I really liked yet. This one looks almost perfect, but I'd have to see it in person.

Overall, it's worth checking out such a genius designer even if it might break the bank more so than your usual Target bill. . . just don't set your hopes insanely high like I always do.

Blowin' in the wind

Shirt: Vintage
Skirt, tights and shoes: UO
Floppy Hat: American Apparel

Last summer I lived in this floppy hat, and I have a feeling I'll be living in it this summer as well. I always seem to have trouble keeping it on though! The wind kept on blowing it off, especially near the water.

I fell in love with this shirt when I found it going thrifting. It has an asian print on it with cherry blossoms and a geisha playing some sort of instrument... so cute. I wore this to go run errands and hangout at the Starbucks on Ditmars where they were shooting a movie! I must say, living in New York City could make you pretty jaded when it comes to seeing movie shoots... they are everywhere. I still love it though and get excited every time I see them shooting one! especially here in Astoria, walking distance from my apartment.

Thriftware

Whenever I go out thrifting, I'm all about being comfortable. I wear flats, usually leggings and some sort of shirt or shirt-dress. but somehow I always manage to wear the same dress, it's weird.

Dress: UO
Jacket and tights: H&M
Shoes: Dolce Vita
Sunglasses: Chanel

It's a tube top dress, so it makes trying things on much easier and faster which is probably why I'm drawn to it.. kinda basic, but it's comfortable.

For some reason I forgot about these Chanel glasses I got a few years ago as a gift. I ended up not really liking them (yikes I know). I wanted those giant circle ones at the time and these are square.. pretty crazy! I ended up loving them though, and I still do.

I don't mind the sun sometimes

I guess I have a slight obsession with sunglasses. My relationship with them is quite strange though... either I lose a few pairs (mysteriously, too!), or I could never justify spending the amount the nice ones cost ~ except for my wayfarers which I'm sort of getting sick of already.. well not really, I just want a change.

A vintage pair of sunglasses from the 60s like Francoise Hardy's would be nice..

Oversized square glasses are the best.

I almost bought these Proenza Schouler glasses at TJmaxx today at an extra reduced price, but I still couldn't justify paying the amount they were.

I neverrrr usually splurge on a fancy pair unless I'm seriously in love with them, and a knockoff just won't cut it. especially with the mysterious disappearances taking place and my tendency to throw them in my bag without putting them in my case first. typical..

but I think I might have to get these Grey Ant ones which I love:

I found a sort of knockoff pair at Forever 21 that might have to do for now until I save up some pretty pennies for a red pair!

Voodoo Girl

I had the pleasure of viewing the Tim Burton exhibit at the MoMA a few months ago, and what a delightful treat it was. From his film shorts, early art works and poetry, to the movie props and costumes, I was blown away.. easily one of the best art exhibits I've seen...so amazing. His work isn't depressing at all. It's lighthearted and sort of romantic with a gothic aesthetic. love it. I will always be inspired by his style.

Dress and tights: H&M
Military jacket: Salvation Army
Shoes: Dolce Vita
Bag: Forever 21

It's gloomy and grey out, so rather than wear bright colors (which I sometimes do when it rains), I opted for black and white. I feel like Beetlejuice in this outfit.

Racing against sunbeams, losing against their dreams

in your eyes i am stop and go

Dress: Rodarte for Target
Cardigan: Forever 21
Tights: H&M
Shoes: Dolce Vita
Bracelet: Lucky
Cameo ring: Great Aunt's

Whether you loved or hated the Rodarte for Target line, I'm still obsessed with this dress. It's a nice mix of Tim Burton meets ethereal fairy or something... I dunno, I just love it.

Yesterday was my sister's bridal shower in Long Island and afterward we went back to my parent's house where I got to play with mah dog, Migglefat! He's pretty much the best dog ever, and most people would agree. and very photogenic if you haven't noticed.

Even though I moved to the city, it's nice to come back home to Long Island every now and then to get away from the chaos and see some greenery... and see Migglefat of course.
