Dog Days of Summer

Top: Forever 21
Shorts: American Apparel
Espadrilles: Steve Madden, thrifted

A few days ago I went to the new Forever 21 in Times Sqaure, and I must say it was pretty intimidating, but in a good way. Four levels of what seemed to be every latest possible piece... so epic. I got this bow top there and a few other things. It's still the hottest summer ever, so I'm living in high-waisted shorts, rompers and light dresses lately. I'm not complaining though! I love summer.

Nothing but Grey Skies

Right now there's a tornado watch in all five boroughs of New York, and it's pretty much hurricane status outside. It's kind of exciting actually. I've always loved scary thunderstorms, and rain can be sort of romantic when it's scarce...which isn't this summer. I know I keep talking about weather, but I guess I'm sort of obsessed with it since I tend to plan my outfits for the day around how it will be outside.

I already have my whimsical bubble umbrella and black Steve Madden rain boots that I swear by, but I'm in need of a serious, completely reasonable raincoat..

I'm starting to love the way clear vinyl raincoats look. The Emma Cook one on the left is especially my favorite, but they both have the similar aesthetic I like. I remember seeing a raincoat like these in Target last year, but it didn't have the black lining which makes it look so much better.

I still love the thought of owning a typically cute yellow one, though.

Kate Spade Sketchpad Ivy Coat, Karmaloop Hunter Gatherer Jacket

These are both vintage inspired which I love, especially the Kate Spade one with the raglan sleeves. I wish I could still get the one from Karmaloop, I can't seem to find it! except for on amazon in a juniors extra, extra small...it won't work. Those toggle buttons kill me.

Oh and

so cute. via Tumblr, but I wish I knew where it was from!

Endless Summer and Inspiration

It's been the hottest summer in New York since I can remember. Almost everyday so far since about mid-June, it's been in the high 90s, even the 100s! Mix that with the humidity of the city, and it feels like being stuck in a sweltering sauna for weeks. I think June actually broke the record of being the hottest month here ever, globally... that's intense.

It's hard to stay cool, and looking at Japanese street fashion makes me wish it was just a little bit cooler so i can layer a light/slouchy cardigan with a dress. Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing it's fall yet. I like to savor the summer as long as possible.

I love the over-sized slouchy cape, but I probably couldn't get away with wearing one in the heat.

Some more sensible styles for this humidity...I want a pair of red espadrilles, so cute.

..but I can spend hours sifting through the archives for inspiration!

Grunge Doll

I'm pretty excited over the whole 90s revival that's been happening... it was one of my favorite decades as far as music goes, and music always inspires me fashion-wise. plus I pretty much grew up in the 90s (the Smashing Pumpkins were my first concert ever in 5th grade... I went with my parents and older sister hahah), so I suppose that makes me biased.

90s Floral Dress: Salvation Army
Shoes: Dolce Vita

It literally started to pour minutes after these photos were taken, so I only ended up getting a few! I love summer thunderstorms though.

Heatwave

I love summer and even though we're having a heatwave here in New York, I've been obsessing over Jeffrey Campbell's Fall collection. I didn't give in to the charli clogs this season, but I'm pretty sure I'll be saving some pretty pennies for these...

Yup. want.

These are definitely my favorite, but the entire collection is pretty much amazing..

Wedding Weekend

This past weekend was my older sister's wedding, and from Saturday up until Monday morning, it was just nonstop wedding partying/chaos.

Saturday was the church ceremony, followed by the rehearsal dinner at night. I had to dress pretty conservative, considering I was going to be at church followed by a huuuge family dinner...

I just wore this dress from Target with my fave wedges.

Then Sunday was the official wedding!

All of the bridesmaids, and my nervous smile.. The color of the dress was guava, I loved how tropical it looked.

I was the maid of honor, so I had to give that scary speech that I've been dreading since I heard the date of the wedding, haha. It was actually quite a success though! I didn't get a chance to take any photos, since i was too busy being in the wedding photos. These are all from my cousin.

I was fending off a bee at the time, which is why I'm looking down.

The happy couple.

Then Monday morning was the wedding brunch. It was a really fun long wedding weekend... I loved how the ceremony, as well as the cocktail hour took place outside. There were even peacocks roaming around. I've always hated the idea of weddings, but I usually end up having a good time!
