Une femme est une femme: Anna Karina

Anna Karina... my latest fashion inspiration. I'm in love with her look and style, and now I'm obsessively adding all of her movies to my Netflix queue. She was part of the innovative French New Wave time period as Jean-Luc Godard's muse, and Chanel came up with her name.. a true fashion icon to say the least.

PS, i just realized today is her birthday, how strange is that!!

Big city of dreams

Dress: FCUK, thrifted
Clogs: Frye
Knee highs and necklace: F21

Knee highs are my favorite for this in-between late summer and early fall weather, where's it's the perfect temperature outside. I love this dress, especially the flowy bohemian sleeves which make it extra cozy and comfortable..and how the colors of the stripes sort of fade into each other. It's also a good in-between weather type piece to wear. I wore this to catch a movie this evening and roam the city streets, one of my favorite things to do.

Afterzine

A few months ago, I was contacted by an upcoming arts and culture magazine called Afterzine to create a look based around a favorite book/book cover or character of mine. I chose The Secret Garden (specifically the book cover).. it's one of my favorites. I finally received a copy, and I couldn't be more excited! I'm on one of the bookmarks that come with it, and it just feels completely surreal to see myself in print. There are a handful of other fashion bloggers in there like Tavi Gevinson and Megan Stewart (!!), as well as artists and musicians such as Thurston Moore, Alexa Chung and more. It was truly an honor to be part of such an amazing and creative project amongst other wonderful people..and I'm still in serious awe!

The magazines are available to order online as well as select cities listed on their website. It's an interesting conceptual magazine that looks like a book and is a really entertaining read, so check it out!

Yeondoo Jung

wonderland_12

Very clever.. I think it's not too hard to see what Yeondoo Jung was trying to depict here. He took a bunch of children's drawings and turned them into real life photographs. such an amazing concept. What's even more ingenious is that he had all of the attire custom made so that the imperfections in the drawings were also apparent in the photos. I'm usually inspired by art, fashionwise, so I love it! It's especially interesting to watch an interpretation come to life.

Japanese Fashion Magazines

I just discovered this Japanese book store near Times Square that has every type of Japanese fashion magazine everr. I was rather surprised, since I didn't think it was easy to get your hands on these overseas magazines. Also unbeknown to me, I didn't realize majority of them come with a cute little tote bag or other adorable item inside! amazing. I ended up buying Nylon Japan (why is it 100 times better than the one here?), since there really was an overwhelming amount to choose from, and scored a tote bag with purchase.

Needless to say, I'm very impressed with the overall quality of the magazine. From the artistically beautiful images, to the fashion trends, I'm obsessed... though now I sort of wish I picked up a Japanese only magazine, rather than Nylon or other American counterpart, just to see if it's even more over the top inspiring as I envision.
